Especially worth visiting is the market in Assomada that takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays. On the pictured central market place by the side of "Av. Amilcar Cabral" mainly food is sold.

The market place can be entered through the entrances on its four sides and thereby builds its own, small and enclosed area.

To some extent the food is quite alive. For example the two piglets in the picture, as many other things too, are carried in a tub on the head. Probably you won't get it, if you see the female carrier passing.

Besides that in many streets of Assomada goods are offered simultaneously (see picture below), not forgetting all the small shops. Additionally there is a big clothes market in street "Av. 13 der Janeiro".
