Beaches (2)

A further beautiful beach, we rather found accidental, was the one of Praia Baixo. If you are driving from Praia to Calheta, then about one kilometre behind Milho Branco in a left turn a street branches to the right. After about 5 kilometres you will enter the village and have to follow the main street which is going to the left.

Almost the same picture you see at the beach of Sao de Francisco. If you are driving from the airport in north direction, then after about 2km you will see in a roundabout the signposting.

Unfamiliar for Europeans and for that reason alone especially attractive are the beaches with fine, black sand. One of them can be found south of Pedra Badejo. On half of the way to Achada Fazenda a street branches to the left. Then you come into a nameless village where you have to go a bit to the left and so you will reach the beach. Swimming in the surge for us was pure fun.

By the way... the area shown in the picture above is a bit more to the right. At time of our stay on this beach there were two smaller locations that were marked off with green meshes. These shielded nests of turtle eggs that were under protection of a beach watching team.

The beach looking promising on the last picture we saw at Ribeira da Prata, which is located south of Chao Bom and Tarrafal. However when we came by, unfortunately we had no swimming clothes with us. Without you never should go out.
